Edward Roger Rausch son of Frances M (Duenwald) and John N. Rausch was born December 30, 1932 in Hoven. He attended school in Hoven and graduated from Hoven High School in 1950. After graduating from high school, Eddie took over the family farm eight miles west of Hoven. On June 23, 1960, Eddie was united in marriage with Patty Mack at St. Anthony’s Church in Hoven. This union was blessed by seven children. Despite losing his hand in a corn picker accident when he was 24 years old, Eddie continued to farm and feed cattle. In the late 1980’s, he became a licensed/bonded cattle buyer. He was passionate about fulfilling cattle orders for his feedlot operation and for his customers. He loved meeting and visiting with people at the sale barns and many friendships were formed from his weekly visits. Eddie was very proud of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was most happy when he was surrounded by his family on holidays and special occasions. Eddie enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with his family and friends in person and on his phone. He was never afraid of striking up a conversation with a stranger. He also enjoyed shaking dice, dancing, and attending the Boy’s State B Basketball Tournaments. His favorite destinations were the Black Hills, Bahamas, Hawaii, and visiting the feedlots in Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado. After losing his wife in a farm accident in 1998, Eddie retired and made his home in Hoven. The highlight of his week was his weekend trips to Aberdeen, SD. In 2001, he met his special friend, LaVerne Tarver.

He is survived by his son Steve of Whitewood, SD; 5 daughters Jeanne (Ron) Arbach , Amy (Jim) Arbach, Colleen (Tom) Hageman, and Lori (Chad) Sautner all of Hoven, and Debbie (Neil) Jensen of Henry, SD; 20 grandchildren and dear friend LaVerne Tarver, Aberdeen; One sister Marcella Lemler of Gettysburg, SD; four brothers, Donald Rausch of Aberdeen, Richard (Jane) Rausch of Gettysburg, Lloyd (Betty) Rausch of Windsor, Co, and George (Shirley) Rausch of Aberdeen, his sister in law, Pat Rausch of Hoven, and his brother in law Hank Westphal, Bath, SD.
